Accomplishments

Meet Jae’Ques K. Brown — A Committed Leader with a Proven Track Record of Service to the People of Greenville, Alabama.

Service.

Over the past four years, as the City Councilman for District 4, I have had the privilege of serving my community and making tangible improvements that have positively impacted the lives of our residents.

Through collaboration with local agencies, advocacy, and hands-on involvement, I have worked to create a safer, cleaner, and more vibrant district. Below are the key accomplishments I’ve achieved during my time in office:

Building Strong Relationships with Residents:

I have prioritized creating a rapport with the residents in District 4 by actively listening to their concerns and working to address them.

By holding regular meetings and engaging in open communication, I’ve built trust and a sense of community where the concerns of residents are heard and acted upon.

I also held our first District 4 Town Hall Meeting in 2022

Enhancing Public Safety:

I successfully advocated for increased police patrols within the district, leading to heightened officer visibility and a subsequent reduction in crime, especially in the Garfield (City School Hill) area.

To further improve safety, I facilitated the installation of security cameras at local parks, including Garfield Park, Beeland, & Dunbar Park ensuring that our parks are safer for families and children.

Advocacy for Youth and Recreational Facilities:

I fought to keep Garfield Park open for the community and, as a result of those efforts, secured the reinstallation of basketball goal rims at the park.

I also helped secure funding for the installation of new playgrounds at both Garfield and Beeland Parks, advocating for better recreational spaces for our children.

District Cleanliness and Environmental Efforts:

I help organized a community cleanup day along with a another councilman, to help bring residents together to improve the aesthetics of our district.

Partnering with the county law enforcement agency, I worked with the Department of Corrections to ensure regular clean-up of litter and debris, making sure our district remains neat and well-maintained.

Improvement of Local Infrastructure:

Addressed issues of illegal dumping and furniture trash along roadsides by collaborating with city leadership to enforce proper regulations ordinances and ensure cleanliness.

I tackled speeding concerns by advocating for the installation of speed bumps in high-traffic areas, improving safety for residents.

Addressed and resolved issues with old and abandoned houses in District 4, ensuring they were either demolished or properly secured to prevent blight.

Regularly addressed overgrown weeds and debris in public spaces and streets, ensuring consistent maintenance and a clean appearance for the district.

Stormwater and Drainage Improvements:

Assisted in completing a major storm drain project that alleviated flooding concerns in a local resident’s yard, improving drainage and reducing potential damage to properties.

Advocated for the installation of a protective fence around a hazardous storm drain, preventing potential accidents and ensuring the safety of residents.

Roadway Safety and Infrastructure:

Worked diligently to address pothole issues within the district, ensuring that roadways were safe for vehicles and pedestrians alike.

Budgeting and Fiscal Responsibility:

I played an active role in helping to maintain and manage the City of Greenville's yearly budget, ensuring responsible fiscal management and the allocation of funds to critical city services and projects.

Support for Regional Medical Center of Central Alabama:

I advocated for the continued support of the Regional Medical Center of Central Alabama, working alongside city and state leaders to ensure its sustainability and prevent any potential closure, securing vital healthcare services for our community.

Support for Local Organizations:

I have consistently supported local organizations, schools, and sports teams through financial backing, recognizing the importance of nurturing and sustaining community programs.

Community Visibility and Engagement:

I remained committed to staying visible and accessible to my constituents by walking door-to-door in the district each month to personally address concerns and engage with residents. This hands-on approach allowed me to stay connected to the needs of the community and address issues directly.
In summary, my tenure as District 4 City Councilman has been focused on improving the quality of life for our residents by enhancing safety, advocating for the needs of our youth, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and ensuring that the city’s infrastructure is well-maintained. I remain committed to serving and addressing the needs of our community as we continue to move forward.
