Greenville City Councilman Jae’Ques Brown Announces Candidacy for Mayor

Proven Leader Brings Vision for Transparency, Economic Development, and Community Growth

GREENVILLE, AL – Greenville City Councilman Jae’Ques K. Brown today announced his candidacy for Mayor of Greenville, bringing four years of proven leadership on the City Council and a comprehensive vision for the city’s future.

“I’m running for Mayor because Greenville deserves leadership that listens, leads with heart, and brings real solutions to the table,” said Brown. “Our city has tremendous potential, and I’m committed to building a better, stronger, and more united Greenville that works for everyone.”

As District 4’s City Councilman for the past four years, Brown has established a track record of results-oriented leadership. His accomplishments include hosting the district’s first town hall meeting, securing crime reduction through increased police patrols, upgrading local parks with new playgrounds and safety cameras, and addressing critical infrastructure needs including drainage issues and road maintenance.

Brown is currently the only councilman serving on the Greenville City Council with Certified Municipal Official designation through the Alabama League of Municipalities, reflecting his commitment to professional excellence in public service.

Four-Point Vision for Greenville’s Future

Brown’s mayoral platform centers on four core priorities:

Transparency You Can Trust: Monthly town halls, public budget portal, livestreamed council meetings, and quarterly progress reports to ensure community involvement in all city decisions.

Real Economic Development: Leveraging Greenville’s strategic Interstate 65 location to attract retail, industrial, and restaurant opportunities that create quality jobs and generate revenue to pay down city debt.

Addressing the Housing Crisis: Working with developers to build affordable housing options and using state and federal grants to support construction that serves working families.

Infrastructure Investment: Tackling long-overdue storm drainage problems, installing new sidewalks, revitalizing blighted areas, and securing grants for downtown modernization.

Community Leader with Deep Local Roots

A lifelong Greenville resident and Greenville High School graduate, Brown returned home after earning his degree from Alabama State University with an intentional commitment to serve his community. He currently serves as Pastor of New Pilgrim Baptist Church and works as a Safety and Training Manager for a major transportation company, as well as at Hudson Funeral Services, a local business serving the community for over 70 years.

“Jae’Ques has consistently demonstrated that he’s a councilman who listens, leads, and delivers,” said Gloria Warren. “His vision for transparency and economic development is exactly what Greenville needs.”

Additional Priorities

Beyond his four core platform issues, Brown has outlined additional focus areas including supporting the Regional Medical Center of Central Alabama, strengthening partnerships with local schools through tutoring and apprenticeship programs, and modernizing city services with updated technology.

“My vision is simple: to create a Greenville that works for everyone,” Brown said. “A city where opportunity is real, leadership is accountable, and families feel proud to call this home. We will build ‘A City that Thrives, not just Survives.'”

Brown is married and the proud father of two daughters. His campaign emphasizes grassroots community engagement and building partnerships across all sectors of Greenville.

The election for Mayor of Greenville will be held on August 26th, 2025 at LBW Community College for the entire City of Greenville. More information about Brown’s campaign and platform is available at [Campaign Website].
